The History Of Kimono Kimono is a traditional Japanese dress that first appeared on heian era (794-1192). Known as the 'straight-line-cut' method, making a kimono involves cutting the fabric in a straight line, then sewing it together. With this technique, the kimono maker does not have to pay attention to the wearer's body shape when producing it. Because of its many uses, kimono is made into a traditional Japanese dress. The only benefit is first, it is easy to fold. Second, it is suitable for use in any weather. Third, it can be used in layers to provide warmth in winter. Also made from materials such as linen that are comfortable to use in summer. Because as time goes by, Japanese society begins to replace kimono with many attractive colors. During the Kamakura period (1192-1338) and Muromachi (1338-1573), both Japanese men and women wore brightly colored kimono.
